چکیده
Background: Surgical treatment is often needed for Charcot neuroarthropathy (CN) of foot. Even though good outcomes were reported with tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis (TTCA) in CN patients, the choice implant still an issue. The aim study was to evaluate TTCA retrograde intramedullary nail, patients CN. Materials and methods: A prospective observational done 41 consecutive treated hindfoot IM nail. American Orthopaedic Foot Ankle Society (AOFAS) score used outcome evaluation, one year after surgery. Results: mean age 67.4(±8.7) years, 63.5% females. Most common cause diabetes mellitus (75.6%), followed by post-traumatic (19.5%) chronic alcoholism (4.9%). Eleven (26.8%) had at end 1 compared five (12.2%) pre-op twenty (48.8%) fair fifteen (36.6%). AOFAS increased surgery (p value 0.001). In time taken union more than 6 months; 15 (36.6%) occurred within months Six (14.6%) non-union. Two (4.9%) deep infection along Hardware failure seen 3 (7.3%) patients. non-union (2.4%). Four (9.8%) superficial wound amputation (2.4%) patient. Conclusion: Tibiotalocalcaneal nail acceptable safe procedure clinical arthropathy which obviates need amputation. Tibiotalocalcaneal Arthrodesis with Intramedullary Fixation
In this paper is described a technique for performing tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis using a new type of intramedullary fixation, the ankle fusion nail. This paper also contains a retrospective review of 17 patients with a mean age of 46 years who underwent tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis with intramedullary fixation for diagnoses of osteoarthrosis (12 patients), rheumatoid arthritis (4 patients...
متن کاملTibio-talo-calcaneal arthrodesis by a retrograde intramedullary nail.
BACKGROUND The paper presents the results of tibio-talo-calcaneal fusions using Retrograde Nailing System and Bone Grafting. MATERIAL AND METHODS From May 2006 to January 2008, we performed 13 fusions in 11 consecutive patients with advanced ankle and hindfoot disease. Patients underwent 13 tibiotalocalcaneal fusions (2 patients had initial tibiotalocalcaneal fusion using screws and subsequen...
متن کاملOutcome of one-stage correction of deformities of the ankle and hindfoot and fusion in Charcot neuroarthropathy using a retrograde intramedullary hindfoot arthrodesis nail.
We report the outcomes of 20 patients (12 men, 8 women, 21 feet) with Charcot neuro-arthropathy who underwent correction of deformities of the ankle and hindfoot using retrograde intramedullary nail arthrodesis. The mean age of the patients was 62.6 years (46 to 83); their mean BMI was 32.7 (15 to 47) and their median American Society of Anaesthetists score was 3 (2 to 4). All presented with se...
متن کاملBiomechanical comparison of stability of tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis with two different intramedullary retrograde nails.
BACKGROUND The aim of the study was to compare the initial construct stability of two retrograde intramedullary nail systems for tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis (TTCF) (A3, Small Bone Innovations; HAN, Synthes) in a biomechanical cadaver study. METHODS Nine pairs of human cadaver bones were instrumented with two different retrograde nail systems. One tibia from each pair was randomized to eith...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate clinically and functionally the pos-operative results of patients submitted to tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis for the treatment of traumatic arthropathy and neuropathy. METHODS Retrospective study of 29 patients undergoing ankle arthrodesis with intramedullary retrograde nail. All patients were evaluated for fusion time, AOFAS and VAS scores, satisfaction, and complicati...
